Hello Everyone,
Holidays are behind and as I write this snow is on the ground everywhere. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays as much as my family did. It has been nice to have a little bit of time off from the playdays to enjoy some other things in life. However, I know many of you are still competing at high school rodeo and I hope that is going well for those contestants.
Lewisville Saddle Club board of directors met on January 3rd and set a schedule for 2011. Please notice the time change. At the banquet, Michael called for a poll on the time that everyone wanted to see the playdays start or even if we wanted to move them to another day. The MAJORITY vote was to remain on Saturday with an earlier start time. So to this, the board listened. (see schedule)
New work rule/ requirement that has been implemented this year is … ALL Juniors are eligible and required to work an event at each playday with the stipulation there only be one Junior in the arena at a time. There are so many of these riders that are very qualified to help out in the arena and as long as an Intermediate or above is working with them they have an opportunity to learn and become active club members.
New rule..our CLASSIC riders / members will from here on out, no longer be required to work. It was the unanimous opinion of the board that they have put in their time and we just appreciate them coming and joining us each playday, and we want them to be able to ride, sit and watch the younger riders, and visit with friends.
Rodeo requirements. It was very confusing to MANY of our riders /members in 2010 what was required of the rodeo. Well please make a note. The 2011 board felt like those members that want to help at the rodeo and workdays will come no matter what the requirement is and many, many of our members not only work their requirement but even more than that. Some worked every workday and all three nights of the rodeo. So for 2011, it is required that each rider age- Juniors and older- must work one (1) workday and (1) night of the rodeo.
The City of Lewisville is finalizing the lease for the next five years for the Saddle Club and Michael is set up to meet with them this week on the maintenance for the arena that is required of us. You will see we have a few workdays scheduled thus far that are nearer to the rodeo dates. Should we need more, we will of course schedule some throughout the season. The City has also requested as part of the NEW lease that the Saddle Club participate in the Western Days Parade and one other City parade with a minimum of 10 riders. So members we will need your help to meet this requirement.
The investigation on the “Stolen Tractor” is still underway. At this point, we have not been able to recover the tractor. Our Vice President, Kevon Theall, has once again gone above and beyond the call of duty and assisted LSC in securing another tractor. The Board of Directors is handling the specifics, but a huge THANK YOU to Kevon.
See you ALL at our Kickoff Membership Playday on February 19, 2011. Free Hotdogs. Tell your friends.
